What is the most important thing for me to do after my injury?

Get well – which is pretty obvious advice, right? The more effort you put into getting better as fast as possible – following doctor’s orders, attending all therapy appointments, participating actively in the recovery process

the faster you’re going to recover and the more credibility you’ll have down the road at settlement time.

How do I pay my medical bills?

It depends. If you’re injured in a car crash, the insurance covering the car you are in is first in line to pay your medical expenses – regardless of fault – under the auto’s personal injury protection, aka PIP, policy.

If you’re on your bicycle and hit by a car, your auto insurance is first in line to pay your medical expenses under PIP, even though your car was at home parked in the driveway.  If you’re a pedestrian hit by a car, your own auto insurance is first in line to pay your medical expenses under PIP.

Bottom line: if you’re injured in a collision involving a car, car insurance kicks in. If you don’t own a car, health insurance or the other driver’s policy may have to step up. These laws are designed to keep auto related injury expenses under the auto insurance umbrella and out of the general health insurance pool.

How will my lawyer be paid? What is a contingent fee agreement?

In almost all personal injury cases, your attorney will be paid a percentage of the final settlement or judgment resulting from your injury. The percentage will be discussed with you and will be the subject

of what is called a contingent fee agreement.

The law requires for your protection and that of your lawyer a written contract, which specifies the percentage so there will be no misunderstanding about fees. With a contingent fee agreement, we require no money down to get started.

Are there costs in addition to the attorney fees?

There are some. Cases involve not only the lawyer’s work, time, effort and expertise, but necessary costs that are specific to the case. When we work for clients, we advance all the necessary costs on the case.

How much is my case worth?

It depends who’s handling it. This is what you should know before hiring a lawyer (Click here)

What do you offer that the others do not?

I have experience – decades of it – working with clients who’ve suffered serious injury due to the negligent, irresponsible or intentional behavior of others. I pride myself on developing good communications with clients.

I inform them of what is possible. They in turn let me know what they can accept. In this manner we work closely together to make strategic decisions that benefit us all.
